Post-Operation Instructions
Extractions and Implant Surgery:

Cool soft foods for 2-3 days (room temperature or colder).
The colder the better (will limit bleeding and swelling).
No peanuts, pretzels, popcorn or any small hard particles that may get into socket
Advil (ibuprofen): as instructed
Sleep on extra pillow (keep head slightly elevated)
Do NOT brush localized area for 7 days
Stitches will dissolve on their own by 7 days (may come out sooner-OK)
Take full course of antibiotics if prescribed
Contact office immediately if any questions (24 hr answering system)


Implant Surgery:

See Extractions- all instruction apply to implants as well.
If posts sticking up through gums:
    Do NOT consider these teeth; they are NOT for chewing
    Do NOT chew in this area until instructed to do so
    Contact office immediately if any questions (24 hr answering system)
If gum closed over implants:
Limit chewing in this area especially for the 1st two weeks.
Contact office immediately if any questions (24 hr answering system)


Extractions and Implant Surgery:

Wait 1 hour before eating or drinking
Brush well on 1st night
Begin flossing on 2nd night (may need floss threader or proxy brush for bridges)
Bite will feel a little high and crowns may feel a little tight for 4-5 days
Contact office immediately if any questions (24 hr answering system)

Implant crowns and bridges:

May be cemented (follow instructions as above for crowns and bridges)
May be screwed into place:
Can eat on these immediately
Brush and floss well as soon as necessary
Wait 4-5 days to get used to bite
Contact office immediately if any questions (24 hr answering system)

Laminates or Veneers:

Can eat immediately
Brush and floss beginning 1st night
NEVER chew ice or eat meat off of the bone with laminates or veneers
